| Hand drawn and hand cut, the cattails were originally soldered onto a 1" (25mm) by 3/4" (18mm) rectangular back plate of sterling silver. This pendant has since been molded to benefit a greater cause, but is still hand finished. A sterling silver bail is added and the entire piece is oxidized to give it that black color. The cattails and bail are then hand polished to a high shine for contrast. The black silver is fired with a clear enamel coating to preserve the finish. The pendant hangs from an 18" ball chain that has also been oxidized. It will arrive with a declaration of the donation of 20% of the proceeds to Ducks Unlimited for the conservation of Florida's wetlands. |
| Since Florida became a state, total wetland area has decreased by approximately 44%. Wetlands provide essential habitat for a wide variety of species - birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and insects - up to 45% of which are rare and endangered. |
